Race prep

Toby refills the greasy squirting thing.

With little more than a month before the Baja 1000, it was all hands on deck across the United States today.

In Vacaville, Gil, Ricky, Crusty, Toby, Rosh and I converged on 1107 to start working through our 22-page checklist of everything we need to do to get 1107A ready for the Baja 1000, which departs for Mexico Nov. 15.

Crusty prepares to re-seal the primary race transmission.

I started masking the car for paint. I can’t decide whether to make it a good 10 foot car, or a good 25 foot car. I’m betting it’ll be 25.

Out in Albuquerque, Romy rebuilt our second engine, which got trashed when we were hit from behind at the Mint 400. Miracle of miracles, he had a spare set of heads to replaced the cracked ones on Engine 2.

And, out in Virginia, 1107B was loaded on a shipping semi for a trip across country, arriving in Amargosa in Death Valley for some testing in about a week.

ICYMI, BK Auto signed on to support our sixth attempt at the Baja 1000.
